“The book I went down to see my brother is my strongest reading experience ever and to now get to portray the main character Jana Kippo feels great, challenging and fantastic,” says Amanda Jansson about the role.

– I got to know Jana Kippo when I played her in the performance Jag for ner till bror at Teater Västernorrland in the spring and it will be very exciting to develop it in this TV series. I am also very much looking forward to working with Sanna again. A more driven, humble and committed director is hard to find, she continues.

Amanda Jansson has previously made herself known to the Swedish people through the role of the police officer Sara in the very popular series Thin Blue Line and in 2024 she also played one of the main roles in the feature film Stormskär’s Maja. The role of John is played by Finnish-Swedish director and actor Jakob Öhrman. He is one of the founders and artistic directors of the theater group Nya Rampen and is known for his role as Krister in the Rebecka Martinsson film series . Jana Kippo’s twin brother Bror is played by Rasmus Johansson. Kalmar-based actor Rasmus Johansson is currently starring in the satirical costume drama Härlig är jorden at Stockholm City Theater.

Director Sanna Lenken has previously worked on the acclaimed and award-winning SVT series Thin Blue Line and Pressure Point. In addition, she has twice won the Crystal Bear at the Berlinale for the feature films My Little Sister and Comedy Queen.

– “I am deeply grateful to be working with this trio. They are three actors who, during their screen tests, showed great courage in exposing themselves and throwing themselves out. We will work to find the depths of Smirnoff’s characters and try to portray vulnerability, strength and boundlessness, or the universally human, if you will,” says series director Sanna Lenken.

But who was Maria, whom Jana had never heard of before? And how did she really die? The more involved Jana becomes, the more she is forced to confront her own repressed memories of her childhood.
